Training is at the heart of TRENNDZ. Our goal is to build a sustainable pipeline of clinicians and scientists in Zambia who can lead high-quality neurology research and deliver excellent patient care.
We provide structured opportunities for medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health professionals to gain research skills while working within active neurology programs.
Training Pathways & Opportunities

- Clinical research training: Hands-on experience in neurology research projects, including study design, data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation.
- Mentored projects for trainees: Supervised research projects for medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career faculty, supported by local and international mentors.
- Workshops & short courses: Focused training in topics such as research methods, biostatistics, grant writing, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and ethics in human subjects research.
- Seminars & case conferences: Regular neurology case conferences, journal clubs, and research seminars that integrate clinical learning with research discussions.
Mentorship & Support

TRENNDZ offers one-on-one and group mentorship from experienced investigators in Zambia and abroad. Trainees receive support from the Neurology Research Office (NRO) for project logistics, ethics submissions, and data management, as well as opportunities to present their work and contribute to publications.
